Getting settled into České Budějovice

Hey everyone, sorry it's been a little bit since my last email, it was Elder Dodsons birthday last week so we were pretty busy partying it up. Haha. It's been a really cool week, I'm really enjoying my time here so far.

We've been having quite a bit of success on the streets, there are a lot of collage age people around here, they are typically a little more open to talking with us than the older generation. We had a really cool contact the other week, he was in a little bit of a hurry, so in the end we really just invited him to church but he actually showed up. He said that he really likes it and he must because yesterday was his second time in a row coming to church.

We've also had some really amazing lessons with another one of our friends from the university, we taught her the restoration, and in this last lesson we read the first chapter of the book of Mormon together to try and introduce it to her. She really opened up about her feelings and how reading with us had brought her peace, the spirit was so strong.

Česke Budějovice and some of the surrounding areas are so beautiful, sometimes it feels like it is straight out of a fairytale, I'll include lots of pictures.

I had exchanges with our zone leaders this week, Elder Montenegro and I decided to go door knocking for one of our finding activities. I don't know how it is in other missions, but we don't really do that here, and now I kind of understand why. Haha. To make things worse the neighborhood that we went to was right next to a Jehovas witnesses church building, I'm sure that every door around there has been knocked about a thousand times by the Jehovas witnesses. Everyone that we talked to immediately assumed that was who we were, and then upon explaining who we actually were, were just as unthrilled to hear that we were missionaries for a different church. We had just half of a conversation with an old catholic lady who then blessed us before we left. Haha.

That's about it for this week, I've been doing really well, thank you all for your prayers for me and your prayers for our friends and the people of Czechia. I hope that you all have an amazing week! Until next time, čau!

  1. I sure enjoy your letters. Keep inviting and see what happens. We have a guy from Ukraine that will be baptized on March 18 in our ward. His name is Oleg. His wife is a Jew and not interested yet but will eat dinner with us. We love missionary work. God Bless You, Bro. DeWitt
